Safeguarding is important to ensure that people engaged with an organisation's activities are safe from harm as much as possible. Many local authorities are now requiring groups to have safeguarding policies in order to hold events, so this is something that London groups will need to consider. Furthermore, it is important that we think of those who are young or vulnerable when we plan our activities so that people can take part with as little risk as possible, and that should harm occur, then the appropriate steps are taken.
We're holding a webinar to help groups understand their role in safeguarding and how to adopt policies appropriate for their group. Safeguarding policies do not need to be lengthy documents - they should be proportionate to your group's activities.
The first speaker will be Ian Ashman, who is the lead on safeguarding on the board of CPRE London, and then we'll hear from Laura Collins in her role as chair of the Friends of Figge's Marsh to talk about how the group thought about their role in safeguarding when drafting their policy.
